John served as Chairman for the Washington County Defense Council during World War 1.  He is pictured here in the front row, 3rd in from the left. 1917

















He worked tirelessly to promote Southern Utah and the St. George area. He had a fondness for Zion National Park and worked publicity to bring national recognition.












John was elected Charter Secretary of the Washington County Commercial Club







During World War 1, he published and shipped subscriptions of the Washington County News for 300 soldiers and church missionaries at no cost to them. While they served, it was important to him for them to stay in touch
